Pero Maldini
Prof. Pero Maldini, Ph.D. is a political scientist and university professor at three universities in Croatia. He is the author of a number of scientific papers published in Croatian and foreign publications and presentations at many international scientific conferences. He has received several international grants for scientific research abroad in the USA, Netherlands, Hungary and Slovakia. He is a member of the Executive Board of the Croatian Political Science Society, member of American Political Science Association and a member of three journal editorial boards.
Though with brief breaks, he has been engaged in ship modeling since primary school. From the 1990s, he has been devoting himself to a more serious study of Dubrovnik's maritime and shipbuilding heritage, and to the modeling of Dubrovnik's historic ships. From that time, particularly noticeable was his study of Dubrovnik xebec from the 18th century. He is a member and co-founder of the Society of Ship Modelers "Argosy" in Dubrovnik. With his ship models, he participated in state competitions in Rijeka in 1997 and 1999, where he won one silver and two bronze medals. He also presented his models abroad, at the European Ship Modeling Championship in Barcelona in 1999. Since 2006, he has been licensed as an international judge according to the rules of "Naviga", in which capacity he participates in several domestic and international ship modeling competitions (national, European and World championship).
